The Great Job Hunt...

Is over - take a look at my new school!

Saturday school is part of life here but so too is 4 months holiday a year!

Jobs

Had my first interview yesterday in the great job hunt.  I am
looking at schools in and around Brighton in the vicinity of the
woman.  There were five candidates for this position in a 'good'
rural comprehensive and I knew almost immediately that the incredibly
enthusiastic girl was probably going to beat me to it, especially as I
was still making up my mind if I wanted the job immediately before the
interview.  In the debrief the head did suggest that I hadn't been
very enthusiastic, he did also say if I had been in the pool in July
when they'd recruited I would have got a job however so this was
encouraging.  The sophorific effects of sitting in a boiling staff
room for two hours can't be underestimated in draining ones enthusiasm
either.  Plenty more jobs to go though - next interview a week on
wednesday.  I will try to get more sleep before this one!

Holiday!

Ahh... term is very nearly finished and I can, at last, spare a few
moments to blog.  No doubt you have all missed me immensely.
Well don't worry - I'm still here, oh yes.  I'm going to Canada on
Friday though so see ya later suckers.

Stag Update

Photo's of our stag (the man pictured below) trip to Bournemouth are now available

HERE enjoy.

Note: The man featured with the chicken is not the same man as the stag - whether or not he would enjoy such an
experience is open to question.

A Man, a chicken and a waterslide...

The weekend just past found me visiting kidderminster, sheffield and
brighton and by far the most depraved thing I witnessed in any of
these three dens of iniquity was a semi-naked man sliding down a
waterslide clutching to his breast a live chicken.  Unfortunately
I was unaware I was about to witness an event of such rare debasement
and was only able to catch the immediate aftermath (poorly - apologies) on my
camera phone.  The chicken was apparently unperturbed by it's
carriage in the arms of a moustachioed maniac down the water slide and
went on to lead a full and productive life.

This is going head to head with the equally bestial collision of stag
and hen pictured here in their natural habitat (a club in bournemouth).  Performing that
long standing ritual - the hen peck.

A Busy Weekend...

We kicked off with the Darwin May Ball on friday which didn't end until
6am on saturday.  There were many highlights (a more shallow
individual than myself might say that the moulin rouge dancers were the
best thing) of the evening but
the best was probably being punted past kings as the fireworks went off
and a string quartet carried across the river.  Our Chauffuer
delayed our trip somewhat - it was fantastic.  Technically not
actually part of the Darwin Mayball but who's counting?

Then onto a tired me on saturday night heading to the comberton village
college 10 years leavers reunion - an enjoyable experience although I
did feel a little like I was floating along in a haze of
exhaustion.  Then on to see matt for birthday celebrations and a
quick sleep on his floor.  The rest of the weekend was spent with
the girl and we also managed to squeeze in some bowling with Matt,
Katie and Wikes - my performance was not really up to scratch, I put it
down to extreme exhaustion.

Interpol

Not the best picture I realise but this was Interpol at the Sheffield
Octagon last night and they kicked arse.  In fact my whole weekend
in Sheff was great fun.  I saw some of my bestest friends and
generally enjoyed the ludicrously warm weather.  In fact you might
say that I'd had my fair share of fun for a while, but no, thats not
right, with only 2 days of college left, K coming up for the may ball
on friday and a long hot summer of indolence ahead of me you could say
the fun had only just begun - Jack-a-nack-anory!
